Ancient civilisation used essential oils for therapeutic, spiritual, hygienic and ritualistic purposes. They also used them in cosmetics, perfumes and drugs. People considered Essential oils as being luxury items. Thus, they also often used oils as a means of payment. Many people also believed that essential oils increased the shelf life of wine and improved the taste of food.<\/p>\n
