Jupiter is the biggest planet in our solar system. It is twice as big as all the other planets combined. In Astrology, Jupiter is the Planet of Progress, Growth, Abundance and Expansion. And yes, it is the Planet of Good Luck! Its powerful energy helps us along.

Jupiter takes approximately one year to move through each zodiac sign and now it approaches the end of one of these long 12 year cycles. On 28th of December 2021, Jupiter moves into Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac. Pisces is interesting as it encompasses aspects of all the other 11 zodiac signs, as well as having its own water energy. There is a spiritual vibration about Pisces too. JUPITER IN COVID
During the whole Covid period, Jupiter, the Planet of Progress has been trying to tell us very important stuff. Here comes the enormous relevance.
On December 2nd 2019, Jupiter entered the earth sign of Capricorn, where it remained until mid-December 2020. In Capricorn, Jupiter is said to be in its fail, otherwise explained as being as in its worst position possible, where it is restricted.
For the Planet of Progress and Expansion to be restricted is never good news, especially for us, who are affected by its energy, usually in a positive way. It’s not been so much like Jupiter left us and went off on holiday, more like he was in a deep depression, showing us all the wrongs with the world, if we want to progress and move ahead.
In Capricorn, the hard path to progress is about coping with hard earthly matters, governments, institutions and systems. And boy, we certainly had to do all that!
AN EARTHY. UNHAPPY TRANSIT!
Jupiter also had its retrograde in Capricorn throughout 2020, making us revisit recent past situations that we had hoped were over.
Lets take a look at the last time Jupiter was in Capricorn , which was in 2008. Funnily enough it was designated as the international year of Planet Earth! The world is in financial crisis, the worst since the great depression. In 2008, Barack Obama became the first black president of the USA. Cyclone Nargis passes through Myanmar, killing more than 138,000 people. An earthquake measuring 7.9 on the moment magnitude scale strikes Sichuan, China, killing an estimated 87,000 people. Lehmann Brothers go bankrupt.
Or, how about we go back in time to 1984 and the shocking breakout of Aids. At the time, people knew nothing about Aids and there was general panic. Or we could take a look at 1972, where terrorism first arises in sport, or the Watergate scandal begins? Alternatively, how about 1960 where the Usa enters the Vietnam war? Or 1948 when apartheid began in south Africa?
JUPITER IN AQUARIUS
On December 19th 2020, Jupiter entered Aquarius. This Aquarian period is now about science, mental agility, the collective. Humanity is now our central focus. At the very beginning of this new Jupiter transit, the vaccination campaigns began.
But on an individual basis, there is also a strong will about the Jupiter in Aquarius transit, with many a person always wishing their voice to be heard! Look at the outbursts that have happened in the world throughout the Jupiter in Aquarius period! Jupiter in Aquarius encourages us to want fairness. We are more open minded than usual and yet we want to fight for freedom.
It is therefore no coincidence that 2021 was a universal year 5, which literally means a year in which freedom calls very loudly! But we want whatever that means in our own way, as well as what we think is right for the greater collective. Unfortunately, there are usually two sides to every viewpoint. What freedom means to one person is not necessarily what it means to another! With Jupiter in Aquarius there is also a fight for the truth. THE LAST AQUARIUS HAPPENINGS
The last time that Jupiter was in Aquarius was in 2009. That was the year that Michael Jackson passed away (who incidentally passed away the same day as Farrah Fawcett). There was a huge, global outpouring of grief. But also, remember the hoo-hah about his death? Was he really dead? What really happened? According to Wikipedia “reactions to the event crippled several major websites and services, as the abundance of people accessing the web addresses pushes internet traffic to unprecedented and historic levels.”
2009 also saw the first block of the first ever blockchain of the cryptocurrency Bitcoin was established. There was also the outbreak of the avian flu pandemic. Yes that’s right. The last Jupiter in Aquarius that happened, people were wearing masks too! Avatar was released, using new technology that had never been seen before and broke box office records. It became the highest grossing movie of all time.
So we can see how technology and innovation play a special part (and often a combined part) in Jupiter in Aquarius periods.
JUPITER IN PISCES
In May 2021, Jupiter initially moved into Pisces. Now we were in a period of hope. Would this be the end of Covid? Were we finally beating it? Then, Jupiter went into retrograde and guess what, backed into Aquarius once again. On December 28th, Jupiter moves into Pisces. And now for the good news.
Pisces is the traditional ruler of Jupiter, so there is great energy during this transit. As the Planet of Good fortune, we can therefore sincerely hope that Jupiter is happy to be back in his element and will shine some happy and lucky rays down upon us! This year of 2022 should be particularly fortunate for water signs and for earth signs alike.
Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac and encompasses aspects of all the other zodiac signs, so there is something very complete about this Jupiter in Pisces transit. The end of a 12 year cycle is upon us. But there is a big water element.
