1st CENTURY MAGIC
The origins of the Runes actually date all the way back to the 1st century. They originated among the peoples living towards the South of the Germanic tribes, who were in fact Scandinavian in origin and included the Angles and the Saxons. The Runes contain sacred symbols and ancient writings, with each containing a very specific ancient character, letter or hieroglyph.
The most popular Runes used in readings these days are not so old. They only date back to the 4th century! These are called the Elder Futhark. There are 24 in total and many modern sets contain a 25th Rune. This latter stone is blank. It represents the questioner or the situation that is being looked into. The word “Futhark” means Alphabet, but there is much more to the Runes than just a set of letters!
RUNIC SECRETS
Each of the symbols has a name, a sound, and a meaning. The sound of each Rune is its essence. Each has its own special vibration. It is said that pronouncing the name can unleash certain energies and help to make things happen!
The Runes are associated with the God Odin, or Wodin (the origin of the English name and day or the week of Wodinsday or Wednesday). His equivalent in Roman mythology is Mercury, the God of Communication. In Norse mythology, the Runes were written and handed down by Odin himself, in order to communicate with humans in message form.

Some of the Runes also have an inversed sense as well as an upright sense, but others do not. As when using the Tarot, there are several different layouts. The placement of each Rune in your reading also gives you a wider meaning. It depends on where each is placed according to the others. It is also possible to give dates too. This is because each of them has a specific number. Just as C is the 3rd letter of our Alphabet, Thurisaz is the 3rd letter of the Runic Alphabet. Therefore asking a question in days, weeks or months can provide extra answers.
THINK OUT YOUR QUESTION CAREFULLY
Because the Runes are so very specific with their meanings, if you are going to have a Rune reading, then think about the phrasing of your question in advance very carefully. The more simple the question, the easier the answer is to provide and to understand it fully.
In a more detailed reading, the Runes will give you advice. This might be “take action,” “wait” and so forth. Thus, the Runes can explain situations but also give you the guidance you may be seeking too.
