Future Planning.
Each day, the person you gift, will simply add their goals where appropriate and think positively about what they want. And of course, they will also regularly think about you! For more about goal setting see here.
SALT LAMP
People have given Himalayan Salts Lamps as a special gift for many centuries. They are believed to contribute towards better and healthier living.
A Salt Lamp is the perfect gift for creating a calming ambiance. Try to find one that is made of natural Himalayan salt. This promotes wellness by releasing negative ions into the air around you, which in turn purifies the surrounding air. It also acts as a light therapy, which reduces stress and increases energy.
GET SMELLY!
If you are into your chakras or your friend or family member is, then consider some aromatherapy gifts. An oil burner, or simply some heavenly smelling oils can be a great little present. Did you know specific oils can also help with specific problems in different life areas? You can use them to manifest love, heal sorrow, become more grounded and much more? Have a look here at which oil can heal which chakra, and which situations here.
And of course, at Christmas, having a lovely, healing or stimulating aroma in your home, can help create the ambiance you are looking for. This can be very satisfying and create appreciating comments, should you have visitors.
PLANTING THE FUTURE
A money plant can be a lovely and very inexpensive gift, especially to a friend in need. This should be placed in the left corner of the home, furthest away from the front door. Many people we know believe in the abundance of a money plant. And many varieties need little watering.
Plants such as Aloe Vera with its healing properties, or a lucky bamboo for a superstitious friend, or simply one who needs some good luck coming to them, can make great gifts too.
THE CHRISTMAS TABLE and TABLE GIFTS
Decorating your Christmas table is a simple way to get into the holiday spirit. And of course by taking the time, you are showing your loved ones a little extra love! You can also create some talking points, have some fun and make it a Christmas to remember with some tiny extra additions.
Bring the outdoor in by making your own evergreen centrepiece. This might sound a bit daunting ,but all you need to do is pick a variety of evergreen branches, berries and pinecones and place down the centre of your table.
PLACE CARDS
For place cards, find some flat stones and paint the name of each guest on their own stone. Stones are also great for Feng Shui. Or, string together a few cranberries topped with some evergreen and a name tag to make a very traditional place card. You can even make your own Christmas Crackers and fill each cracker with a small coin for luck.
People do love to see their names at a place setting, so writing these on a card with some descriptions using their initial can also be fun. For example: A is for Anne, Adventurous, Adorable, Ambitious and Amazing!
Also, anything related to fairies and angels are very spiritual and also very Christmassy! A small wooden, or a beautiful opalite angel at each place setting, can cause many people to have a warm glow. Also, an angelic thought or gift from the fairies, written on cards can be lovely. These can just be wishes of love, abundance or manifestation for the person concerned.
We have just mentioned opalite, but a personalised small tumble crystal at a place setting to suit each persons needs can also be original and get people talking.
TABLE LUCK
Everyone loves a table gift. It really gets this special celebration going. For something different, buy some good luck charms from around the world. Place them in a pretty envelope and put on each person’s table setting. Some good luck charm ideas are:
-The Four-Leaf Clover –This legend is from Ireland, and it is believed that Eve took a four-leaf clover with her after being banished from Paradise to remind her of it.
-In the UK, many people consider acorns to bring good luck. They are associated with magic and protect one’s health.
-Dream Catcher charms are popular in the USA. Much like worry dolls, a Dream Catcher charm is used for those suffering with bad dreams and nightmares.
-And for Australians, the boomerang charm is very lucky. People give this as a gift, in the hope the recipient will return.
And let’s not forget the lucky Chinese waving cat! Alternatively, go for life path numbers as charms. This will be certainly be a talking point! These can be made simply at home, or bought as inexpensive crafted items, or even keyrings.
Napkins folded into stars, elf hats or angels are a great touch at the table too! And why not make a savory or sweet biscuit that’s shaped like an angel or some stars too? And, talking of food…….
THE ORIGINS OF POPULAR CHRISTMAS FOOD TRADITIONS
You have laid the table, wrapped the gifts, and now the feast needs to be prepared, something we all look forward to with relish. But have you ever stopped to wonder where our Christmas food traditions come from? Here are some Christmas traditions to talk about!
CANDY CANES
There are two main theories surrounding how Candy Canes got their unique shape. The first is that the shape resembles the letter J, for Jesus and the second is that they were shaped to model a shepherd’s crook. The Candy Cane was first given to children as far back as 1670 in Cologne, to keep the children quiet during Christmas services. Nowadays we are much more aware of the damage all that sugar does to our teeth, but as an occasional treat, we still enjoy them!
CHRISTMAS CAKE
The first mention of the Christmas fruit cake was mentioned back in the times of Ancient Rome. People have adapted the ingredients over time. And, believe it or not, one of the most important aspects of a traditional fruit cake is its age. As a traditional fruitcake is first soaked in alcohol for preservation, people have been known to preserve a fruitcake for up to a year before serving!
THE HUMBLE BRUSSEL SPROUT
You either love them or hate them! But did you know that Brussel Sprouts, a staple of the Christmas meal, are incredibly good for us, as well as being a Spiritual Vegetable. They contain a huge range of essential nutrients as well as carrying the energy of bio-photons which have been shown to have healing effects. Brussel Sprouts are full of alkaline which means they cleanse your body as well as nourishing your physical body which makes you more connected to your heart chakra. The simple way to enjoy your Brussel Sprout is to gently steam them over hot water until just tender. Do not overcook them. Add some pre-cooked chestnuts and tuck into this delicious vegetable!
CHRISTMAS TURKEY
And finally, the Christmas Turkey. The first written record of turkeys is attributed to Archbishop Thomas Cranmer, way back in 1541. He wanted to curb gluttony at Christmas and a larger fowl like the Turkey supplied more meat. Moving on to the Victorian Times, most people couldn’t afford a Turkey! But, by the end of the Victorian Era when the railways really took off, Turkeys become more accessible, and therefore much cheaper.
Today, although the Turkey is still popular, many people are enjoying a more plant-based menu so we wonder what our Christmas Menu will be like in another 100 years’ time!
