Are you feeling Stuck and in a Rut? Do you feel like you are sinking in quicksand and cannot pull yourself out of it? Don’t feel the fear! This is the Universe sending you a warning that it is time to make a change! And, we are here to hold your hand while you do it!
At every moment of our lives, we always have choices, no matter what blocks our path. Yes, you have the power to live up to your highest goals and be the best version of yourself that you can be.
But how can you get there? If you feel you are being pulled in every direction by situations out of your control, now is the time to realign yourself. Decide what you value most in your life and what makes YOU happy!
HOW DID I GET STUCK?
The first thing you need to know is that when we are stuck, it is caused by one thing – and that one thing is fear. Fear is something that we are born with for a good reason – survival. But the very thing that keeps you alive, is therefore the one thing that keeps you emotionally stuck.
The reason that your fear happened can be due to a number of reasons. Being stuck can gradually creep up on you over time. Things that you learned and even enjoyed have become mundane. Thus, the daily grind just grinds on. There is no pleasure left in certain aspects of your life and everything has turned into routine.
FEAR OF CHANGE
You just carry on, knowing that something has to change, but are not sure what to do about it. This is actually the fear of change element taking over and protecting you! And that is why, when you start thinking about change, it can feel like a scary thing.
Secondly, being stuck in a rut can follow a traumatic event. This event is unlikely to have been caused by you. It has been put upon you. So, after having to deal with this, you may feel empty and like you are just “going through the motions.”
AND NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS
Just understand that however your “stuckness” happened, it has happened. And now, something has got to change. We have all experienced change in the past, either as a good or a bad thing at the time. But ultimately it leads us to new pastures, allows us to use our personalities, our skills and ingenuity. And when this happens we succeed.
So, however stuck you may feel, fortunately, there is a way through! First identify some of the fundamental reasons why you are stuck in life. Think through how this unintentionally blocks your true potential, and what to do about it. This is the time to be brutally honest with yourself. So go for it and be brave!
HOW TO GET OUT OF A RUT
LACK OF MOTIVATION
Lack of Motivation is a huge factor in being stuck. Either you don’t know what you want, or you think that you could never achieve what you want. The easy option is to carry on doing things the way you have always done them. Even if they aren’t working for you anymore. Another sign is you feel like you are on a negative loop. You start the day feeling tired and end the day in the same way.
However, you don’t have to be held a prisoner by your old, familiar habits and assumptions. This is the time to be BRAVE and move from being STUCK to being UNSTUCK!
FRAME OF MIND
Our frame of mind is frequently a reason that drives us to cling to a certain routine. Routine makes us feel comfortable, but rarely serves us. If we are constantly “doing something and keeping busy”, we feel we have a purpose in life. It is also a great permission slip to not face up to ourselves and the reasons we feel stuck. Be honest with yourself! Does being stuck secretly serve you? What are your reasons for staying as you are? Do you recognise fear?
MEANING OF AUTHENTICITY
We tend to forget that every person in the world has a unique blueprint. These days we are bombarded by “the perfect life” via social media. Without realising it, we force ourselves to believe that if we fit in to this fabricated vision of the perfect life, all will be well. Remember, this is your life path. You can do what you want with it! When you are in line with your own authenticity, you will feel fulfillment in every cell of your body.
LIMITING SELF BELIEF
Limiting self-beliefs, are a major reason to feel Stuck. Perhaps you are in a relationship or a career you’re unhappy with? If you do not believe in yourself, it is easier to stay doing the things that make you feel stuck in a rut day after day. The first part of overcoming self-belief is to identify their source and assess their validity! Therefore, listen to your negative thoughts. Search for the source of the belief. This in turn is the key to eliminating those exhausting negative thoughts!
INSTINCTS!
It is true what they say. Always trust your instincts. Before something happens the universe always send clues and flags up possibilities. The problem is that most of us ignore these signs and vital clues towards what’s going to happen. Do not be afraid. Trust your instincts and intuition. And most importantly have faith in yourself and your abilities.
GETTING OUT OF A RUT
Hopefully some of our tips will have helped you identify what you are feeling, and you can now start looking for ways to break the negative cycle and move forwards.

SPICE OF LIFE
A life that is just one of routine and then ends with telly every evening is rarely rewarding. So, something will have to give here. This requires you exchanging some time doing “stuck” things with “other, better things”. The list is endless but look to your skills and what you enjoy for some clues. Bakery, flowers and plants, arts and crafts, crosswords, chatting? Now, set some goals to do more of these and break your usual routine. Do something that gets you out of this rut and gives you some moments of joy

THE BASICS
Be mindful of good food, exercise, drinking enough water. What things could you do to look after yourself better? Park your vehicle further away from your destination, or get off one stop earlier at the bus stop? Start drinking a herbal infusion? Consequently, introducing one or more of these will put you on a good path to support the rest of your journey.

PEN TO PAPER
Thinking about what you do want in your life is always a starting point to getting it. Writing it down can help make it happen! Our Goal Setting Blog, which you can read here, can help get you started. Again, we are not going for the Olympic gold medal to begin with! Small positive changes and goals is what to look for and windows of opportunities to achieve them.

MAKE SMALL CHANGES
Overhauling everything at once can be overwhelming. So, set yourself a plan to make small manageable changes each week. If your rut relates to work, your workload is unmanageable, or you are finding the daily routine unchallenging, speak to a colleague for advice. If its more encompassing and lifestyle changes are required, take small steps to improve what you can around that situation, when you can.

THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS PERFECT
Remember, you are not trying to change the universe with a single leap! Don’t aim for perfection yet. Just take small steps that take you in the right direction. Then, you will see things start to change. And don’t beat yourself up or get disheartened if you don’t reach one goal or make a mistake. You are only human, but at least you are trying!

GET OLD, OR NEW!
Reflect on what you used to love doing, or something you used to be good at. Or, do something new and/or exciting. Or reintroduce something you used to enjoy back into your life in a gentle way. Doing this can be really rewarding.

HEAD OUTDOORS
Try out a new hobby that involves being outdoors. We all know that being outside in nature has a positive impact on the brain as well as lowering stress and increasing mental well-being. So, allow yourself to be calm and look at the beautiful world around you. Be near trees or water. Or just go for a good walk. Being outside can really lift your mood. Oxygen also feeds the brain and helps clear thinking!

BE SPONTANEOUS
If you feel stuck, learn to live in the moment. Don’t overthink the pre planning of the day. Just let it happen and say yes to new experiences. Go somewhere you have never been before or pontificated about going to before! Take up social offers from people you know well if they arise.

AFFIRM YOUR PATH
Using one or two affirmations to begin with, can be helpful and help re-programme your brain to new routine and new ways of doing things. And, in turn, affirmations can help get you started on your new and revitalised path.

FAITH IN YOURSELF AND YOUR GUIDES
Be aware of the signs that you are getting universal help. After initiating just a few small changes in your daily routine, you will usually see things opening up. You may also ask for guidance or help from your Spirit Guides or Angels. Often, you will be able to see the signs they are helping you. You can do it, we know you can! So, just have faith in yourself!
