Journey Through The Chakras – with Rafael
Chakras are believed to be energy centres within our bodies that regulate the flow of life force energy or chi energy. The word Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel (Sanskrit is an ancient language from India).
There are many energy centres or Chakras throughout our bodies but there are seven major chakras that tend to be the most prominent or active which are located vertically along the spine and ripple out into our aura.
How Do They Work?
Each Chakra vibrates at a different frequency with each corresponding to a living area, emotion or thought/belief pattern that influence and affects our everyday life and wellbeing.
If we are experiencing some form of stress or negative emotions then the corresponding chakra can become blocked and underactive causing our energy levels to subside.
While if we are experiencing feelings of joy and peace then our Chakras can be giving us more life force energy to work with. They can also become overactive by not doing things in moderation, leading to burnout.
The Chakras
Below is a brief description of each of the seven chakras and their correspondences:
Base/Root Chakra
Sanskrit name = Mulandhara.
Colour = Red.
Location = Base of Spine.
Attributes = Material World, Survival instincts, Grounding, Stability, Security, Physical Vitality.
Sacral Chakra
Sanskrit name = Svadhisthana.
Colour = Orange.
Location = Between pubic bone and Navel.
Attributes = Emotions, Relationships, Sex, Sensuality, Pleasure, Desires, Creativity, Control.
Solar Plexus Chakra
Sanskrit name = Manipura.
Colour = Yellow.
Location = Navel area Just underneath the ribcage.
Attributes = Strength of will, Personal Power, Self Confidence, Inner Child, Ambition, Individuality.
Heart Chakra
Sanskrit name = Anahata.
Colour = Green, Pink.
Location = Centre of the chest.
Attributes = Love, Compassion, Forgiveness, Relationships, Clairsentience (Psychic ability to sense and feel).
Throat Chakra
Sanskrit name = Vishuddha.
Colour = Blue.
Location = Neck/Throat area.
Attributes = Communication, Self-expression, Speaking one’s truth, Clairaudience (Psychic ability to hear).
Third Eye Chakra
Sanskrit name = Ajna.
Colour = Indigo.
Location = Forehead just between the eyebrows.
Attributes = Spiritual insight, Visualisation, imagination, Clairvoyance (Psychic ability to see).
Crown Chakra
Sanskrit name = Sahasrara.
Colour = violet/White.
Location = Crown/Top of head.
Attributes = Connection to the Divine/God, Spirituality, Claircognizance (Psychic ability to know things).
Chakra Maintenance
There are as many ways to keep your chakras in alignment and working efficiently as there are people doing it. Below are just a few suggestions.
- Visualisation.
Visualise each chakra in turn starting at the base and working all the way up to the crown. See or feel a ball of coloured energy spinning as you do you may notice dark spots or that it’s very dull in colour this is trapped energy.
Simply visualise a beam of white light coming down from above filling that chakra with light and as it does so see or feel that chakra begin to spin faster and become brighter in colour with any dark patches melting away.
- Crystals
Intuitively choose crystals of the same colour as each chakra (or you can look them up in a book there are practically hundreds for each chakra). Lie down in a place where you will be comfortable and undisturbed for at least an hour.
Place each crystal on each energy point then just breathe and relax and feel the crystal energy flow through your body. You can play some music in the background if it helps.
- Chanting
Sound vibration through chanting mantras can give your chakras a boost of energy. Any mantra you feel called to will do however there are however specific Chakra mantras that can help with this.
